This Dramatic Portrait
In the battle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for greed in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish film adaptation about the fallen TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. Garfield plays the venal Jim, who proclaims initially, “God does not want us to be poor,”. He and Tammy Faye set about profiting from the American public's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and hypocrisy, though the lead actress achieves to depict the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. October 14th, late night, the Film4 channel
